It has been a big year personally, with a new house in Fernandina Beach, and Hamilton Campaigns merging with a great company -- EMC Research. But, one thing remains constant, I am riding in the Katie Ride for Life for the 12th consecutive year. Thank you to all my friends and family who have helped me support this wonderful organization over the years.
The Katie Caples Foundation was founded in 1998 by the family of Katie Caples, a teenager who did not survive the trauma of an automobile accident. Because Katie was an organ donor, her organs and tissues helped others survive and thrive. You can learn more about Katie's story by watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEkOAgR9va4
I am very excited that my kids, Zach and Skyler, along with parents Doug and Linda are participating with me. I am recovering from a rupture in my Achilles tendon, so I am doing the swim and bike on the Triathlon, while Skyler does the 5k run for me. I am committed to raising $6,500 to help save more lives through the mission of this foundation. If we raise that or more, together we will have succeeded in raising over $67,500 for organ donation awareness over the past 12 years. Organ donation may not be something we think about regularly, but it is an important life-saving decision that thousands of people depend on every day. One donor can save up to eight lives and enhance the lives of 50 others.
Thank you for your support. And if you aren’t already, please consider becoming an organ donor.
