Katie Ride

The Katie Ride is a premier bicycle touring event catering to cyclists of all abilities. The annual fundraiser is held on beautiful Amelia Island ("Top 10 Island in the United States" - Conde Nast Traveler 2012 Readers' Choice Awards) and features routes of 100 miles, 63 miles, 34 miles, 18 miles and an off-road ride through Fort Clinch. The event was created in 2005 to raise awareness for organ donation and support the Katie Caples Foundation nationally recognized organ donor education program. The 13th anniversary of the event is Saturday, April 22, 2017.  Stay tuned for the "official" maps!

Katie Walk & Fun Run

The Katie Walk was introduced in 2009 by popular demand as an alternative to the ride and the Fun Run was added in 2014.  Both the Walk and Fun Run are routed through Egans Creek Greenway and courses over uneven trails and paths.  For more information on Egans Creek please check out this link.  Stay tuned for the "official" Katie Walk & Fun Run map.

Katie Fun Fun Tri

That is right!  We've added this year a "fun" triathlon for all you folks interested in a new kind of challenge.  Start with a 300 yard swim in the Atlantic Recreation Center pool, then the 18 mile road ride and finish with a 5K run through Egan's Creek.   Not your traditional triathlon but WOW what a challenge.  This is NOT a race, it will not be chipped or timed.  Registration is limited.

Who Rides?  Who Walks?  Who Runs?  Who Swims?

From avid cyclists to those who "pull out the beach cruiser a couple of times each year" - the ride truly caters to everyone. And if cycling isn't your thing you can join the increasingly popular Katie Walk. The Katie Run is a "fun run" and not timed.  Our participants are committed to the cause of the Katie Caples Foundation, plus the routes are pretty darn amazing!

Why We Ride & Walk & Run

More than 125,000 adults and children in the United States are currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. On average, 21 people will die each day in the United States due to a lack of available organs for transplant. And while 90% of Americans say they support organ donation, less than 44% are currently registered. Funds raised through this event support the Katie Caples Foundation and its mission to increase the number of registered organ donors to eliminate the wait for individuals on the national transplant list.

Registration Fees
Proceeds from the Katie Ride event support the Katie Caples Foundation nationally recognized organ donor education program.
Children under the age of 18 are welcome to participate, however MUST be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian who participates in the same event.  Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to participate in the open road cycling events.
