The Katie Ride is a premier bicycle touring event catering to cyclists of all abilities. The event was created in 2005 to raise awareness for organ donation and support the Katie Caples Foundation nationally recognized organ donor education program. The 11th anniversary of the event is Saturday, April 18, 2015. Stay tuned for the "official" maps of our new an improved routes!
Katie Walk & Fun Run
The Katie Walk was introduced in 2009 by popular demand as an alternative to the ride and the Fun Run was added in 2014. Both the Walk and Fun Run are routed through Egans Creek Greenway and courses over uneven trails and paths. For more information on Egans Creek please check out this link. Stay tuned for the "official" Katie Walk & Fun Run map.
Who Rides? Who Walks? Who Runs?
From avid cyclists to those who "pull out the beach cruiser a couple of times each year" - the ride truly caters to everyone. And if cycling isn't your thing you can join the increasingly popular Katie Walk. The Katie Run is a "fun run" and not timed.
Why We Ride & Walk & Run
More than 125,000 adults and children in the United States are currently waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. On average, 21 people will die each day in the United States due to a lack of available organs for transplant. And while 90% of Americans say they support organ donation, less than 44% are currently registered. Funds raised through this event support the Katie Caples Foundation and its mission to increase the number of registered organ donors to eliminate the wait for individuals on the national transplant list.
Proceeds from the Katie Ride event support the Katie Caples Foundation nationally recognized organ donor education program.
